Take the role of a spacecraft pilot and dive into some intense space combat and even fiercer space trading in this awesome space simulation game - Freelancer. Developed by Digital Anvil and released back on March 4, 2003, Freelancer is a space trading and combat simulation game that is said to be the spiritual successor to Origin Systems’ Wing Commander: Privateer.

Freelancer is a sequel to the mission-based space combat simulator, Starlancer. However, this game features an open-world setting that combines both combat and space trading and has successfully managed to deliver both. The game has a total of 48 known star systems and a wide variety of player activities including resource mining and bounty-hunting.

The game takes place 800 years after the events of Starlancer and follows the mercenary freebooter named Edison Trent. Set in an open world, you can play the character in different roles such as a pirate, a trader, or a bounty hunter. The game features an intense single-player campaign which is illustrated with two hours' worth of in-game cutscenes. Although the main story of saving the Sirius Sector from a mysterious alien force is quite linear with no available options that can affect its flow or direction, the game features a lot of side quests and jobs to do outside of the main story. Some parts of the main story are extremely difficult without the additional rewards and experience that come from taking on the side quests. Once the main story is completed, the game opens up to its full potential of being an open world - allowing players to explore to their heart's content.

Freelancer also has a multiplayer mode with lots of active dedicated servers. Although the game's official development has been stopped, the game has a lot of active mods that kept the game alive even after 20 long years.

Installation Instructions for ISO Version

1. Download the ISO Version, then extract and mount Freelancer.iso with WinCDEmu or other similar apps.
2. Run SETUP.EXE from the mounted image and do a full install of the game to the default directory e.g "C: Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games Freelancer"
3. Navigate to the "Crack & Tools\FreelancerTools folder" and extract Freelancer.exe from the Crack.rar to the game directory, overwriting the existing file.
4. The Freelancer.iso contains various other patches which are optional.

Windows DirectPlay feature is required For Windows 7 or above. To enable the feature on your system, you must navigate to Programs and Features > ‘Turn Windows features on or off’. In that window, you must expand ‘Legacy Components’ and ensure the box next to ‘DirectPlay’ is checked.
