Mercenaries is a stand-alone game expansion to MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat. It is also the last BattleTech game made by Activision. The game is set in the 30th century when humanity has been ravaged by decades of war. Multiple planets have already been devastated and the remainder of the universe is still in constant conflict. The player takes control of an Inner Sphere mercenary squad that pilots huge robotic war machines called BattleMechs. As a specially trained mech pilot and mercenary, you have complete control over the finances and the missions you take. The game features far more BattleMechs (and even hover tanks) than the original Mechwarrior 2, with many added features to boot. Although the game feels somewhat 'rushed', it is dubbed as one of the most satisfying and addicting Mechwarrior game in the series - and with good reasons.
