Need For Speed II: SE

Electronics Arts created this game in 1997. It was an upgrade to the original Need for Speed, and the second NFS franchise. This was originally designed for a Pentium 90 Mhz processor with only 20 MB RAM! Compatible with systems running Windows 95 with 3DFX Voodoo to further enhance graphics.

With those specs, you got better performance and track renderings. More polygons also meant the graphics were smoother and less jaggedy than its predecessors. This release was cutting edge at the time and a rival to some of the existing console racing games.

The game runs fast, adds four cars to the original eight, and adds one track to the original 7. Today's racing games include numerous tracks and an enormous amount of cars. But keep in mind, that this was 1997, and not the day and age of the likes of Gran Turismo and Forza. The cost of RAM and HDD space has dramatically decreased over the years which allows for such games to exist now. This NFS release is still a great racing game to play for old-school nostalgia!

Installation Instructions

1. Download Need for Speed II Special Edition to your PC.
2. Download and install nGlide on your PC.
3. Download patch file NFS2:SE Patch
4. Unzip NFS II SE to your PC.
5. Run nGlidesetup_105.exe to install it on your PC.
6. Unzip nfs2se_patch.zip and open the folder "NSFE PATCH (use for playing)".
7. Run PatchInstall.bat as an administrator (by right-clicking the file and "Run as Administrator").
8. Find the nsf2sea.exe file in the NFS II SE folder. Right-click on the file, go to Properties, and go to the Compatibility tab. Under Run the Program in Compatibility Mode set it for Windows 7. Apply the Compatibility mode. Open up nsf2sea.exe and start the race!
