Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2

Join the Allied Army or the Soviet Union as you play one of the most popular C&C games in the franchise. Complete several epic missions in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2. This real-time strategy game features two opposing factions, dozens of hours of non-stop action, and a large amount of full-motion video cutscenes from professional actors.

Some of the crowd favorites from the original Red Alert returned in this sequel, and along with it came some awesome missions including the defense and assault of some popular landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty. Just like any of the traditional RTS, your goal is to eliminate all enemy forces by destroying their bases while defending the player's base. The single-player campaign features some customized objectives that provide variety to the gameplay.

Initially released back in 2000 by Westwood Studios, RA2 neglected all the innovations in the RTS genre during its time and stayed faithful to its original formula. As a result, C&C: Red Alert 2 became of the best RTS classics to date. The game also features a standalone expansion pack Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge.

How to Install Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2

The original ISO file/CD came with a specific type of DRM that is no longer supported in the newer versions of Windows. As of Windows 8, and more recent OS, you will need to install the freeware Virtual Clone Drive and use it to mount the virtual CD.

For easier installation, we recommend the use of the Red Alert 2 Multiplayer version from XWIS instead.

1. Download and install Red Alert 2 Multiplayer to your folder of choice.
2. Download the RA2 MIX file and extract all of its contents to the game folder (overwriting any files). These are the files required for the single-player campaign to work.
3. Navigate to the game folder and right-click and open the properties of ra2.exe.
4. On the compatibility tab, Set the following options:  
5. Create a shortcut for ra2.exe and right-click and open its properties.
6. On the shortcut tab, inside the Target box add "-win" without the quotes. This command will force the game to start in Windows mode. (e.g. "C:\Red Alert 2 game folder\ra2.exe" -win").
7. Play the game using the shortcut and adjust the in-game resolution to reactivate the borderless full screen.
