Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars is a turn-based strategy video game following the story and the events of the first HoMM game. Published in 1996, the game features a graphical overhaul from the first game with the gameplay and game mechanics remaining almost the same. However, the Magic system was overhauled in Heroes II - now making use of the new magic points system. The game is separated into two campaigns between Lord Morglin's two sons, Archibald and Roland - representing the good and evil factions.
An expansion pack called The Price of Loyalty was released in 1997, and a bundle containing the original game and the expansion pack called Heroes of Might and Magic II: Gold was released in 1998. Heroes of Might and Magic II was named the 25th-best computer game ever and is dubbed as among the best turn-based strategy games in history.
