Developed by Warthog Games, Richard Burns Rally is a sim racing game that was released in September 2004. The game was praised by rally enthusiasts for its complex physics engine that is ahead of its time. Abbreviated as RBR, the game is widely known for its realistic real-life courses. These courses were scouted by the development team in real life - making them as close to reality as possible. The game's realism adds to its difficulty which developed its fanbase while shunning away many casual gamers-alike.

Richard Burns Rally features a total of eight cars and thirty-six official courses. However, because of its large online community, the game has a huge list of available mods including more cars and courses. Although the game is still popular, a sequel is unlikely due to the death of titular Richard Burns and the developer Warthog being disbanded.

How to Install Richard Burns Rally on Windows 10/11

1. Download Richard Burns Rally Installer on this page.
2. Unzip the file to an empty folder.
3. Run RichardBurnsRally_Setup.exe and follow the setup procedure, except install the game on any folder outside "C:\Program Files (x86)\"
4. Once the installation is complete, run Richard Burns Rally 1.02 Patch.exe. This patch will automatically detect the game folder.
5. Copy the "Plugins" folder and paste it to the game's installation folder/directory. This will install the Fixup.dll to your game - making it compatible with widescreen and modern devices.
6. On your game directory, open RichardBurnsRally.ini and make sure to adjust the following, so your .ini file will be similar to this:
   
   • Depth = 32
   • ForceFeedback = true
   • Fullscreen = false
   • MinDepthBits = 24
   • MinStencilBits = 8
   • ParticleQuality = high
   • RenderCarShadow = true
   • RenderQuality = high
   • RunIntro = false
   • RunStartup = false
   • Sound = true
   • UseCubicEnvironmentMaps = true
   • UseEAX = false
   • UseSoftwareAudio = false
   • UseTripleScreenBuffers = true
   • WaitRetrace = true
   • XRes = 1920
   • YRes = 1080
7. Set 'XRes' and 'YRes' to your desired screen resolution (i.e. 1680 x 900)
8. Remove the line "ConstantForceMultiplier = -60"

The game should now be playable on Windows 10/11. You may set "fullscreen = true", but the game will crash if you use the Alt+Tab function.
