The game takes place at the local pizza restaurant that uses animatronic robots as mascots. However, the robots' behavior has become unpredictable at night, so the management employed a night security guard to keep an eye on the robots. As the one unlucky enough to get the creepy job, the player is tasked with watching the security cameras while carefully utilizing the very limited amount of electricity. And if you're unfortunate enough to run out of it, you will have no lights, no CCTVs, and no security door to do your job or even protect yourself.

Developed by Scott Cawthon, FNAF is a frightening game that sets the mood just right before the jump scares. This sensational game was publicly released back on August 8, 2014, and was based on the game from the same developer, Chipper and Sons Lumber Co. Despite the harsh reviews of Chipper, Five Nights at Freddy's was very well received by fans of the genre. The game became so popular that it developed its fandom and paved the way for several sequels and inspired many other games and even a film adaptation.
