Slender: The Eight Pages

Developed by Parsec Productions, Slender: The Eight Pages (originally titled Slender) is a first-person survival horror game based on the infamous creepypasta horror story named Slender Man. In this game, the player must collect eight pages filled with meaningful scribbles that warn the player about the mysterious yet harmful entity that lurks in the forest. These pages are scattered around the dark forest, and the player must find all of them while avoiding the Slender Man. Unlike many survival horror games at the time, Slender's gameplay is limited only to walking, running, and using the flashlight that gives off the feeling of helplessness and desperation. 

Although the game is repetitive with little replay value, the game was largely praised because of its creepy atmosphere despite the dated graphics. The game became viral and garnered a fanbase which created a lot of fangames, and remakes, and inspired many other games of the genre.
